Viveknand Suknandan
Viveknand Suknandan is a twelve year old boy from Guyana who is having surgical treatment for Left Enucleation & Tumor Removal in his Left Eye. The treatment will be done by Dr Forrester, Medical Director, Craniofacial Program Head, Division of Plastic Surgery and Dr D DeAngelis, Division of Ophthalmology. TCCF is committed towards the cost of payment in the sum of $25,000 CDN to Sick Kids. The treatment is scheduled sometime in June. (Photo not available).
Ashminee Budram
Ashminee of Guyana was a year old when she underwent surgical treatment for a Corneal Transplant, which is impaired vision.
The surgery was performed by Dr. Asim Alli, from the Division of Ophthalmology, in 2007.
TCCF is responsible for the payment of $10, 000 CDN towards the cost
of this treatment at the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children.
Meagan Manoo
When Meagan, of Trinidad, was six months old she had an emergency admission to the Toronto Hospital for Sick Children in 2006 when she fell ill while visiting here. She had treatment done for Pulmonary Hypertension, which is an open blood vessel in the heart that did not close at birth. TCCF assisted with $25, 000 CDN.
Timothy Jewanram
Timothy Jewanram, of Guyana was 11 years old when he had surgery done in 2006 for a cogential heart condition HSC. TCCf assisted with $25, 000 CDN for the treatment rendered.
Isheena Thorpe
Isheena, of Jamaica was three years old when she required surgical treatment for Arthrogryposis Multiplex, which is a desiccated left hip and web space of the hands. Dr. J wedge, a surgeon in the division of Orthopedics conducted her surgery in the fall of 2007. TCCF is responsible for the payment of $18, 000 CDN to HSC.
Noel Clarke
Noel, of Jamaica was three years old when he underwent surgery for Hypospadias, which is a genital urine passage problem. The surgery was performed by Dr. Tony Khoury, Chief of the Division of Urology in the fall of 2007. TCCF is responsible for the payment of $10, 000 CDN towards the cost of his treatment to HSC.
Aaron Swamber
Aaron, of Trinidad has a serious problem with excessive saliva, causing him to choke frequently. He is also handicapped and visually impaired. Aaron had surgery done in 2006 when he was 14 years old. TCCF assisted with $25, 000 CDN for the treatment rendered at HSC.
Wendy Nedd
Fourteen-year-old Wendy from Guyana had a cogenital deformity on her right nostril. Today, she's a normal, healthy teenager after undergoing nasal reconstruction surgery by Dr. Vio Forte from HSC in September 2005.
Venood "Sunny" Ramkishur
He looks like 10, but Venood - called "Sunny" by his family to reflect his personality - is really 17 and suffers from a heart defect that keeps him bed-ridden and has slowed his development. Sunny underwent his scheduled surgery at HSC in late 2005.
Kandid Goddard
Kandid Goddard is a five year old girl from Trinidad who had surgical treatment for Sigmoidoscopy and Repair Rectovaginal Fistula (Hirseprung Disease). The treatment was done by Dr J Langer, Head Division of General Surgery at Sick Kids in April 2008. TCCF is committed towards the cost of payment in the sum of $25,000 CDN to Sick Kids Hospital. Anthony Shakespeare
A bleeding intestine is what was threatening Anthony's life, after a lengthy assessment by doctors at HSC, he underwent life saving surgery at the end of 2005 and has since returned home as a normal , happy boy.
Adrian Soodeen
At the tender age of 11, Adrian required surgery to repair his urinary tract. The Trinidadian boy received an operation in March 2004 from Dr. Khoury, head of Urology at the Hospital for Sick Children.
Vishal Ani Paryag
Vishal , of Trinidad was 13 years old when he required an assessment consultation for retinal detachment in both eyes. TCCF committed $700 to his surgery in the fall of 2007. (Photo not available).
Jason Anderson
Sixteen-yea- old Jason suffered from Autoimmune Hepatitis. This disease causes an inflammation of the liver. Doctors in Jamaica were unable to pinpoint this disease, which is how Jason ended up in the hands of the TCCF. He was so inspired byt he doctors that helped save his life, that he wants to become a doctor one day.
Sudesh Beharry
Sudesh began experiencing severe dizzy spells after he was hit by a ball during an ordinary game of cricket. The cause could not be diagnosed in his home country of Guyana and he was sent to Toronto where doctors at HSC were able to treat the condition. Sudesh is now back to normal.
Aaron Wallace
Sixteen-year-old Aaron from Trinidad had a tumor in his brain. The delicate operation was performed by Dr. James Drake, head of neurosurgery at The Hospital for Sick Children. The surgery was successful.
Shanna Baccas
Shanna suffered from Anorectal Malformation. with this defect, the anus and rectum of the baby do not develop properly during the fifth to seventh weeks of fetal development. shanna, a six year old from Jamaica had a cecostemy, successfully completed by Dr. Jacob Langer at HSC.
Ambika Ramadhin
Ambika, a six year old from Trinidad required surgery to construct a bladder, a vagina and to untie her uterus. Due to her weakness, no operation could take place in her stool area. After being discharged from the hospital on April 19th 2005, Ambika was rushed back to the hospital with complications. At that time, a second surgery was performed. She recovered well, and has since returned home.
